Besides the nonstandard and illegal tail lights the Swiss Army had another ingenious idea when they ordered their special version of the trailer socket. It’s the standard car trailer connector for 12V wired somehow different due to the selected tail light arrangement. To make things worse: even in Switzerland buyers of Pinz’ sold by the army have to have the tail lights converted!!!

The socket and connector wiring is as follows:

Pin Code Function 1 L Turn Signal & Brake Left 2 54g unused 3 31 Ground 4 R Turn Signal & Brake Right 5 58R Tail Light Right 6 54 unused 7 58L Tail Light Left

This is an old version of the European trailer connector but still available. Both, socket and plug, are either marked 1-7 or have the usage code numbers somewhere in the plastic......
